Julius Rashard Sallie was born in Boston, MA and spent most of his life here in Mississippi. He graduated from Jim Hill High School in Jackson in May 2006. Later, he joined the Mississippi Army National Guard in September 2006. He was shipped to boot camp in August 2007 at Fort Sill in Lawton, OK. He then attended Advanced Individual Training at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, TX.
His first duty station was Co. C 106th BSB in Crystal Springs, MS, where he served as a Med Log NCO. His additional duties included Motor Pool Sergeant, Communication expert, convoy operations, and assisting in unit supply. He deployed to Balad, Iraq in June 2009 with the 155th ABCT.
In October 2013, he was promoted to Staff Sergeant in the 184th ESC out of Laurel, MS, where he also served as the Med Log NCO in the SPO section. In 2019, he volunteered to deploy once again as the BMSO (Brigade Medical Supply Office) for the 155th ABCT to Kuwait City.
In 2020, he volunteered to join the Mississippi Army National Guard's Covid-19 task force team as ORT 8 NCOIC. In 2021, he switched roles to become CP-South's S4. Throughout his 16 years of service, he has been awarded the Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal with Campaign Star, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, and Armed Forces Reserve Medal with M device.
In his everyday life, he works as a CNA at the G.V. Montgomery VAMC in Jackson, MS. He is a father of three and enjoys activities such as cooking, arts and crafts, bowling, and spending time with his family.
