Leroy
Lee enlisted into the United States Army in August of 2000. He volunteered to deploy to Afghanistan in 2002 in response to the War on Terrorism. After serving four years on active duty, which included multiple deployments, Lee left active duty and joined the Mississippi Army National Guard. At first, he was a traditional Soldier, doing the one weekend a month type of training. After less than a year he realized he missed the full-time lifestyle of being in the military and went back to work full-time as a Soldier.
Lee currently works full-time for the Mississippi Army National Guard in Flowood as the Defense Movement Coordinator. He returned from his most recent deployment to the Middle East in 2019. Lee is a Sergeants Major in the 184th Expeditionary Sustainment Command in Monticello, MS. Lee has received multiple awards and recognition in the Army. Some of the awards are the Meritorious Service medal, 2 Army Commendation medals, 7 Army Achievement medals and the Afghanistan Campaign Medal with a Campaign Star. He is most proud to have been awarded the Humanitarian Service Medal twice and the Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal.
The uniform and the camaraderie that comes along with service is in his blood.
In 2016 he along with three other Mississippi Army National Guardsmen founded 5th Squad. They all wanted to do something for our Veteran community that has given so much for our freedoms. He found that it is often very difficult for Veterans to receive immediate financial assistance in the event of an emergency. They changed that by forming 5th Squad, a 501c3 Nonprofit dedicated to assisting Veterans with immediate, life-sustaining needs.
Lee is married to Tiffany and they have 2 sons, Asher 16 and Deacon 15 and the most beautiful little girl you’ve ever seen, Josie Kate who is 6. They also have a turd of a dog named Hank.
