Ronnie Hood

CPT Ronald S. Hood enlisted in the Mississippi Army National Guard in 2008. He attended basic training at Fort Leonard, MO and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Gordon, GA. His first assignment was in the 112th Military Police Battalion’s Signal and Communication section with whom he deployed to Kuwait in 2011-2012. CPT Hood transferred to 2nd Battalion 20th Special Forces Group in 2014 and deployed with them to Central Africa in 2015-2016 in support of Operation Observant Compass. CPT Hood began Officer Candidate School preparation in 2017 at Camp Shelby Joint Forces Training Center and was commissioned as a second lieutenant after graduating from the Accelerated Officer Candidate School at Fort McClellan, AL in March of 2018. His first assignment as an Officer was Platoon Leader in the 1687th Transportation Company 2018-2020. In 2020 he was reassigned to India Company, 1-155th Infantry Battalion to serve as the company executive officer. CPT Hood was chosen for company command of Hotel Company, 2-198th Armor Battalion in 2021. In 2022 CPT Hood was chosen to take command of India Company, 1-155th Infantry Battalion, with whom he is currently deployed with.

CPT Hood’s awards include the Army Commendation Medal with 1 Oak Leaf cluster, Army Achievement Medal with 3 Oak Leaf clusters, National Defense Service Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Parachute Badge, Armed Forces Reserve Medal, Global War on Terror Expeditionary Medal, Mississippi Emergency Service Medal, and Mississippi Longevity Medal.

CPT Hood obtained his GED in 2004 and his associate degree in General Studies from Hinds Community College in 2012. In 2019 he received his bachelor’s degree from Belhaven University in Business Administration, graduating Summa Cum Laude. CPT Hood’s military training includes Officer Candidate School, Transportation Officer Basic Leader Course, Master Resilience Training, NCO Basic Leader Course, Army Airborne School, and Transportation Management Coordinator. CPT Hood also holds several IT certifications including Comptia A+, Comptia Network+, Comptia Security+, NGB Linux Database Admin, and Veeam.
