Thomas Mitchell began his military career in Jan 2000 as a PV2 in Ft Benning where he attended basic training and Airborne School. From there he was sent to Ft. Bragg where he was a member of 2nd BN, 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment. He deployed to Afghanistan in 2002. After four years of Active duty, (then) SGT Mitchell returned to MS where he would join the MSARNG in the 1-155th Infantry Regiment; 155 ABCT. He deployed to Iraq in 2005 as a SGT. He received his commission in 2008 from OCS where he became a PL in Bravo Company 1-155th. He would later deploy in 2009 to Iraq and again in 2011 to Bosnia, as the Aide de Camp of the Ground Forces Commander of NATO HQ, Sarajevo. Upon return of his fourth deployment, he was hired into the AGR Program in McComb, MS where he served dual roles as both the Training officer and as Company Commander of Bravo Co 1-155th. He was later moved to the BN S1 and BN S4 where he was deployed for the fifth time, this time to Kuwait (18/19). MAJ Mitchell was assigned as the Deputy State Surgeon after his return where he served for a year and a half. MAJ Mitchell was then assigned to BN XO of 1-155 and BN AO in which he completed his fourth NTC rotation and his sixth deployment (23/24), again to Kuwait in which he moved Soldiers throughout the CENTCOM AOR. Upon completion of that rotation, he was promoted to LTC and assigned to the JOC as the Deputy Director of Military Support (DOMS). After two years, he was re-assigned as the State Training Officer and selected for Infantry BN CMD, starting in Sept of 2026.
