Meet Hugh L. Wade IV, affectionately known as Trey. He is a proud Veteran who has served our country with honor and dedication for over 24 years. Trey enlisted in the Army through the Delayed Entry Program in December 1990, and officially began his Army career in February 1991.
During his active duty, Trey served in South Korea with C Company 307th Signal Battalion in Defense of the Korean Peninsula from 1991-1992. He then returned to the Continental US (CONUS) and was stationed at Fort Polk, LA, as a 31L Wire System Installer with the 208th Signal Company. Trey was later stationed at Fort Richardson, AK, also as a 31L with the 21st Signal Company. After a 12-year break in service, Trey joined the Mississippi Army National Guard in April 2008 with HHC 168th Engineer Brigade in Vicksburg, MS. He deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in 2008-2009 and then again to the Middle East with HHC 155th Armored Brigade Combat Team out of Tupelo, MS, in Support of Operation Spartan Shield in 2018-2019. Currently, Trey is deployed to the Middle East with HHC 168th Engineer Brigade in support of Operation Spartan Shield.
Trey holds the rank of E-8 and has been in service for a total of 23 years and 11 months with his Primary MOS being 12X50 and his Duty MOS being 12Y50. He has received numerous decorations, awards, and citations for his service, including the Army Commendation Medal with 3 Bronze Oak Leaf Clusters, the Army Achievement Medal with 1 Silver Oak Leaf Cluster, and the Combat Action Badge.
In addition to his military service, Trey is a dedicated family man. He is married to Kristin, and together they have a 15-year-old son named Hayes. They also have two dogs, Lambo and Bandit. Trey is an active member of the Enlisted Association Mississippi National Guard, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the 5th Squad.
Trey has been employed with Nissan North America for over 20 years and 9 months, where he currently works as a supervisor in the Body & Stamping plant on the New Model Team.
Trey met our founder and President, Lee in 2017 prior to deployment at Camp Shelby only to later realize they would be roommates together in Kuwait for the entire deployment. That is where Trey found out about 5th Squad and the mission. Trey immediately began working hard as a new prospect and could not wait to become a member of the organization and has never waiver since. Being a member of 5th Squad is one of Trey’s proudest parts of his life.
